New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program

New Brunswick, one of Canada’s three Maritime (eastern) provinces along the Atlantic coast, borders Quebec and Nova Scotia as well as the United States. New Brunswick is one of Canada’s smallest provinces, it is about the same size as Ireland, Scotland, or the Czech Republic. It not only offers excellent health and school services but great job prospects and a low cost of living.

The New Brunswick Nominee Program, administered by the Department of Postsecondary Education, Training and Labour (PETL), targets prospective immigrants with the desired skills and experience to fill workforce gaps and contribute to local economies and communities.

NB PNP Streams

NB Skilled Worker Stream

NB skilled worker stream targets foreign nationals who have the potential to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy with their skills, education, and work experience. This stream also enables New Brunswick’s employers to recruit foreign nationals and international graduates when a Canadian citizen or permanent resident is unable to fill their job vacancies. Candidate must have a full-time job offer in an eligible position.

NB Express Entry Stream

The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration system and targets highly skilled individuals who have expresses an interest in the stream. Candidates must be currently living and working in skilled occupation (NOV 0, A or B) on valid work permit.

NB Entrepreneurial Stream

This is an economic immigration program designed for experienced business owners and senior managers who are ready to establish, operate and actively manage a business, while residing and settling in New Brunswick (NB) permanently.

This stream operates as an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The first step in this process is the submission of an EOI to the New Brunswick Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour. Once an application is reviewed and assessed based on the eligibility requirements, an applicant is assigned a score based on various factors. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination under the NBPNP.

To be eligible for the New Brunswick Entrepreneurial Stream, individuals must:
  • Conduct an exploratory visit of at least five full business days in New Brunswick.
  • Have English and French language skills (minimum CLB or NCLC 5).
  • Have at least a 2-year post-secondary education (if you have a foreign education you will require an ECA).
  • Be involved and be present in the day to day running of the business.
  • Own at least a third (33.33%) of the business.
  • Have a personal net worth of at least $600,000 CAD of which $300,00 CAD must be liquid
  • Invest at least $250,000 CAD in an existing eligible business.
  • Be between the ages of 22 and 55.
  • Create or maintain at least two jobs in New Brunswick.
  • Be able to demonstrate a purchased business is profitable and has been in operation for at least two years.
  • Complete a New Worth Verification Report within 90 days after receiving an ITA.
  • Submit a business plan.
  • Demonstrate an intention to live and work in New Brunswick.
  • Score a minimum of 65 points (out of 100) in the following selection factors:

    • Age (Maximum 10 points)
    • Language (Maximum 25 points)
    • Education (Maximum 25 points)
    • Personal net worth of at least $600,000 CAD
    • Business ownership (Maximum 20 points)
    • Business concept (Maximum 15 points)
    • Adaptability (Maximum 5 points)

NB Strategic Initiative Stream for French-speaking immigrants

The stream is intended for French-speaking workers who have the potential to contribute to New Brunswick’s economy with their skills, education, and work experience, and who are ready to live and work in New Brunswick permanently

To be eligible under this stream candidate must
  • Score a minimum of 65 points (out of 100) under election factors.
  • Have intent to reside in New Brunswick. To establish intent, applicants must submit a Settlement Plan to demonstrate their ties to and knowledge of New Brunswick.
  • Have either of the following eligible connections:

    • An exploratory visit
    • A genuine job or genuine job offer with a New Brunswick employer
    • A letter of interest from the Province of New Brunswick
  • Have sufficient funds to support them and their family (even if they are not coming with them to Canada).
  • Be between 19-55 years of age on the day their application is received.
  • Must, at a minimum, have a Canadian secondary (high school) diploma equal to a Canadian credential.
  • Must score minimum of CLB 4.
  • Have at least two years of full-time paid work in the past five years.
  • Score a maximum of 20 points for adaptability based on the likelihood to settle in New Brunswick.
